Very good post. Collaboration on requirements is a great way to go. One reason is that with collaboration, the technical team can give immediate feedback to the business team as to what's easy/already-there-just-need-to-config/difficult/etc as they think through the requirements and various options.
However, it's still the business side that needs to finalize, or at least firm up, the requirements, and the technical team should be careful not to become overly...um...influential in determining what the product should be and do.
